Dear Reg;
I am writing you to thank you for the past two day's
experience learning with your team at Infineon in
California. Your training exceeded my expectations in
two distinct areas: the technical expertise of you and
your instructors and the gentleness with which you made
that expertise accessible to me and the other students.
In these two days I have learned about myself as a
rider, how my bike wishes to ride, and how the Infineon
Raceway needs to be ridden. I will heartily recommend
your school and your instructors to my wife, my friends,
and to anyone who wishes to learn to improve their
riding skills.
As a safe, conservative, motorcycle commuter; for about
five years I've had my share of close calls riding 75
miles/day through rain and sun in Seattle freeway
traffic. When I traded my sport touring bike for a sport
bike, I was excited by the possibilities a nimbler, more
agile bike seemed to offer. Then I spent time at a
'Track Day' at my local race course. There, surrounded
by "club racers" and with a few coaching hints from the
local dealership's hot shot rider, I flew, terrified,
around the track hoping something would click and I'd
feel like the riders I saw blurring past me. It never
happened and I was ready to turn in my keys and again
buy a bike with luggage and settle in to settling in.
Your class was my last step before selling my bike. I'm
a stubborn man and was determined to get my money's
worth out of the class. The first morning on the track,
I felt the apprehension creeping in through tight
fingers and stiff shoulders. But immediately, within the
first lap, your instructors came along side and
befriended me. Specifically, Aaron and Clark acted as
though they owed me a favor. With kindness and a clear
understanding of my current riding level, they were
encouraging and supportive, building from a foundation
of safety and smoothness, and slowly adding one more
skill every time we went back out on the track. These
men could teach my grandmother to ride. I cannot
compliment them highly enough nor you for your example.
During the second half of the second and final day, as
I, for the first time in my life on a track, passed two
other students (safely, smoothly, and according to a
plan I'd developed four turns earlier); I laughed aloud
inside my helmet. Thank you for helping restore my
enjoyment of motorcycling. Before I had white-knuckled
panic and tachycardia. Now, I am a good rider with an
excellent foundation. I know what skills I need to
develop and have a clear path to accomplish those goals.
I expect to attend future classes. I expect my wife and
my son to attend also. I've nothing but praise for the
work you did, your skill, and, specifically, your
ability to communicate to your students - regardless of
their skill level. Your prospective students and your
sponsors should know their trust will be and has been
well placed.
Cordially,
Joel Fulton
